Working on a Saturday……

Well I'm sittin here at work, thinking why in the hell and I at work on a Saturday? I think it's a sickness. Of course I do have a very comfortable work environment. If it wasn't for this work thing, hanging out here wouldn't be too bad. I've got a bad ass computer, my linux laptop, and a leather execs chair. In the lobby we have a leather couch, arm chair, some really nice plants, a stocked fridge, a 32" TV, and soon we are getting satillite hooked up. Get me some Tivo and a cot and I won't ever go home. I've always worked alot. Especially when I like what I'm doing. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but it's kind of just the way it is. Maybe that's why I'm not married any more. Well that and like a billion other reasons. :) Anyhoo.....

Pay for shade……?

So tell me if I'm crazy. We have covered parking here at the apartments along with private garages. Of course you have to pay for them and they are very limited in numbers. Well the last apartment I had my own covered parking and I really liked it. It made a termendous difference in the temp inside my truck, as well as protected it from this wonderful Texas hail we get every now and then. Well this last week we had a covered parking spot come available. I really wanted it but I didn't know if it was worth $40 a month just to park in the shade. I've only had it now a couple of days and I'm seeing what I was missing. It's not like we have any trees to park under or anything. Also it's only about 1000 degrees out there, and I'm sick of these damn birds thinking my truck is a big red public toilet. So am I crazy to pay for a parking spot or what....?

34 Years and 1 Day…………

Ya know, I swore I wasn't going to watch Big Brother3 this season. But I guess I'm just fascinated with stupid people. It's probably the same reason I watch Jerry Springer. Then again I get pissed off at the people on Jerry Springer ALOT more than the people on Big Brother. I think that's directly perportional to their IQ. Anyhow, It's been three hours of BB3 on the Tivo tonight and I can pretty much say that most everybody on the show bothers me.

Just another day………

Ya know some people have these magical, mystical, get down and boggie kind of feelings about their birthday. Well needless to say I'm not one of those people. Sure it's nice to go out and get something to eat. Maybe a present or two I wouldn't object to. But when it comes down to it, I don't want a party in any way, shape, or form. I don't really know why. I guess I'm just a big ole fuddy duddy. Tonight I'm headed to "The CheeseCake Factory" which if you know me is like Jesus going to Heaven, kind of in my element, so that'll be nice. Anyhoo... I guess I need to get. I have alot of work to finish up here before I leave....... See ya......

P.S. 34

ACKKKkk……..

I am SOOOOOO sick of hearing about "aero push". I really think that's just NASCAReess for "Robbie Loomis Sucks". And that's all I have to say about that! I went and say Austin Powers last night. The first 20 minutes or so I wasn't too impressed outside of the first 5 minutes which were pretty good. The last hour was really good. I don't remeber the last time I laughed so much. Dr. Evil for me was the highlight of the movie. I don't really think it's a movie for kids. I know they'd like it but there is way too much references to sex. Which of course is way fine for me, but not for the 10 year olds. Anyhoo.... Go Jeff!

Austin……………

Well I just go back home from a trip to Austin. Kind of strange trip. It's only about a 3 1/2 hour drive down there. It'd take at least that long to fly if you count security, parking, and car rental. Jamie, my boss, was supposed to go down there on Monday but didn't. Then he was supposed to be there Tuesday, but wasn't. Wednesday, same thing. Well Wednesday about noon he asked if I minded going down to Austin. I said sure, anytime. When did you want me to go....? "Now" he said. Well I pulled out a change of my least dirty clothes and packed a bag. Well I'm back finally and really glad to be home.

I’m a Wuss…….

So how exactly does one hurt themselves vacuuming the carpet. Well I now know. I don't mean a little hang nail or something. I mean a can't get outta bed till I cried hurt. Yesterday was pretty ruff but today was really bad. I vacuumed most of our office with a shop vac. Using a shop vac on something that size is like vacuuming a football field with regular vacuum cleaner. So anyway, now I walk like I was 90 years old and went I set down for a while I can't get back up. But with any luck and a lot of motrin, I should be better in a day or so......

………..

So I'm still fighting the ole T1 issue. I personally think it's a problem with our ISP. But my boss has a special place in his heart for these guys. Of course these are the same guys that installed a wireless system and then when it didn't perform they came to the conclusion that the antenna's were too close. That's like saying your race car is too fast. What in the hell were they thinking. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's there problem but I'm taking a lot of the heat for it. Not for much longer though. So, it was a pretty easy day at work today. I was there until almost 8pm but that cuz I just forgot what time it was. It's hard when you work in a building with very few people. You don't really notice when they go home. So you have to keep track of that kind of thing yourself. I actually got some things done around the house today. I got the bills paid, the living room cleaned up, and the kitchen looking a lot better. I still need to work on the floors a bit...

Request timed out……..

So yesterday was the IT day from hell..... We lost internet about five times yesterday and once already today. We have between 95% and 105% usage on that T1. We where dropping ALOT of packets which makes it look like a denial of service attack. It's not, but it looks like it. After troubleshooting I found a bad router. I don't know what's up with it but I'm sure it's got bad things going on inside it. So today my entire job consist of watching a ping waiting for it to drop off and then when it does rebooting that damn router. Sounds fun, huh.......

Holy Crap……..

Ya know, I don't have very many nightmares. A matter of fact I can't even remember when my last one was. I have them maybe once a year or so. Well last night I had one. It was a bad one too. I cried enough last night that I don't really want to go into the details, but thank god for hearing your kids voices in the morning. That's for sure. It made what was looking like a good nights sleep into hours of looking up at the ceiling trying to force my mind onto a different subject. Anyhow... I'm all better now.

Childless Again…..

So Brandt went back to his Mom this weekend. It's nice to have a change to clean the house with out a rubber band zinging by my head for unexplained reasons. At the same time I'm already missing him. The handoff of him went pretty smooth. I had to deal with Rachel and her new husband. That was extremely uncomfortable, but at least I didn't kill him. Although that may or may not have been plan B. The hotel they had stayed at was screwing them around on picking them up at the airport so I went and picked them up. It wasn't really a problem cuz it was only a few miles away and we were waiting for them anyway. Anyway.... It's time to get to work.....
