Grrrr

So this house thing has kindda got to me the last day or so. I guess I shouldn't let it but it's tuff. In any case I start looking again hopefully this week. I'd like to have found something by the end of next week. I'm ready to do this. The good thing about these delays is that it makes me one more month closer on paying off my truck, and one more month of savings to put into the house. I did do my budget last night and if I did it all right, I'll be sittin pretty when this is all said and done. Anyway, I'll let you know... 'tada'

Flash Back

Yesterday I was packing up Brandt for the summer with his mom. I got down the suitcase from the closet so we could pile his stuff in that for the trip. Have you ever had those times when you hear or smell something that just takes you back to someplace in your past? Well that's what happened to me. When I opened it the first thing I noticed was that I had 8 or 10 flight suits in there from the good ole daze. A split second later it hit me. Most people just jump on an airplane and fly from point to point. There is a lot about that airplane they don't notice. Everything has a very distinctive smell, from the hydraulic fluid to the engine oil to the wheel bearing grease. Well the combination of these smells with the aroma from the Nomex that makes the flight suit fireproof hit me like a ton of bricks. It's not a bad smell, it's just a smell. Of course for me it's a good smell cuz except for some of the obvious things that was a very good point in my life. Anyway, After sitting on the edge of the bed for 20 minutes day dreaming about the wide blue yonder I got up to stuff Brandt dirty socks into the laundry. What a difference in aromas!

Would someone please come clean my bathroom for me. I'll make it well worth it for you. I'm really having issues with the floor. We all know I'm not very good at dusting. Well I can prove it now. I've found a place where I've swept a time or two, and even mopped at least once. But if you go too long with out sweeping or mopping on spot, that stop becomes un-sweep/mop-able. I need another plan of action cuz just pushin a broom over it doesn't seem to work. Anyway......

Yay!

Things may be starting to fall together. The last big hurdle, even biger than spending $130,000 for a house, is broadband internet in a town of 2250. I was pretty much set on losing my dsl. But I didn't give up that quick. I found a company that does point to point wireless to a network with internet access. This is huge deal. This very site is ran off my dsl. I have a hosting service but they won't give me access to run things like this journal, the messageboard, and even my ftp stuff. This wireless is only 512Kb where as my dsl I'm getting about 1.3Mb right now. You may thing that this would slow down the site when/if it's moved over to it. But it won't. Currently I'm getting the 1.3Mb but its Dsl so It is being capped at 128Kb. The wireless will be 512Kb both ways. This will mean my access to you will be slower, but your access to me will be 4 times as fast. Although I don't want to lose any speed I think I can live at 512Kb. That's a mile away from dialup. It's a little expensive to get setup but the cost is about the same as Dsl from that point on. Anyway, from here on out... smooth sailing!

Marty

I was just reading this on The ScreenSavers web site about why Martin Sargent is not allowed back on the show. This is call #3.....

April 17, 2001:
Me: Orlando, Florida, let's go to Sheila. What can I do for you?

Sheila: Hi, Martin. I just bought a new Apple iBook and I can't seem to connect to the Internet.

Me: What color is your iBook?

Sheila: Orange.

Me: OK, what you want to do is reinstall Windows.

Don’t you hate when…

Ya know I normally get up in the morning and check my blood sugar. Lately since I changed my medicine it's not looking nearly as good as it once did but it's still not bad. This means that I have to check it just about daily. Just to make sure. Well normally I poke myself, squeeze out some juice and test it. This will kind of tell you what kind of day I'm having. I poked myself, It hurt like usual, and normally I'll have to squeeze just a bit to get enough blood to test with. Today, however, I squeezed and this thing shot out blood and hit me right in the eye. Icckk... It was like shooting a water gun. Luckily enough it was my blood and my eye. :þ Hopefully the day will turn around, after all it is Friday!

P.S. The webcam is down cuz I'm streaming audio right now. But the audio is flawless, at least with just one user on it... :)

Work

I don't know which, but either this damn NT4 domain or Exchange 5.5 is going to be the death of me. Evidently I got really spoiled on the active directory/exchange 2000 we had at DDi. It's going to be a couple of months before I can get this network stable enough to even thinking about moving in that direction. I guess it's one step at a time.

Up/Down

It wasn't so many weeks ago I was unemployed and feeling pretty low. Not the lowest of my life but still it wasn't any fun. Now I've got a job again and am making decent money so I'm all caught back up on my bank account and it looks like it's time to buy a house. This is a high. Now I'm getting the typical cold feet and starting to second guess myself about the house thinking it's to soon. Right now I have high highs and low lows in the same day. It's kind of freaky. I know I'm doing the right thing but that doesn't change the way I'm feeling. My dreams aren't helping things either. A month or two ago my dreams were REALLY my friend, today they are not. BTW... '''zzzz'

Is it me?

So can you see me living in a town that doesn't have a McDonalds, or a Wal-mart? Well it might just happen. I've been looking for areas around that I might want to live in. I think I've found one. It's actaully just outside of town. It's about 30 minutes from work. It's a small little town called Prosper Tx. Population 2250. Just my speed, slow! Anyway I'll know more later. It might work out and might not. You'd think some sprawling metropolis like that would have DSL or Cable wouldn't you? Nope they don't! Can you say Satellite!

Yukkkkk

So for the last two days I've been doing nothing but security at work. We basically had ZERO internal security. We are ok on external, but wide open on the inside. When someone that just was hired and didn't even have a name tag on her desk can get into and access, modify, or change our accounting or personal data then internal security is in dire need attention. Luckily for me back on Day #3 and just about everyday since then "Internal Secrity" has been at the top of my project list and everyday it's been pushed to the bottom because it "Wasn't Critical". So my ass was covered but it really made a mess of things. They asked me what I thought of the rest of the internal security and so I laid it all out on the line. Said a lot of not so nice things about their network. I think I've made some progress in the PR department with some of the management though. So that's a good thing. It's all be good for me. A lot of extra work but I'm at least proving myself to them. We'll see how next week goes....

Mothers Day

Happy mother’s day to all the mom's out there. I want to take this time to wish my mom a happy mother’s day. She brought me into this world, she put up with my stressful and sometimes challenged childhood, she saw me run off to the Air Force where I sent 10 years away from home, she stood by me through my divorce and the toughest part of my life then she watched me move off to Texas for a better work environment where still remain today. All of this with out a complaint or a negative thought. For that I love her and wish her the very best on this day.....

Garage

So Brandt is officially in "There". He likes it, that's why I let him in, but it's "There" so I really have to watch him. I can't have him getting into anything he shouldn't. He's already kicking butt and taking names in there. He was making some chick wish she had never bought a paintball gun earlier today. Anyway, this last week I got one of the garages here at the apartments. I'd had one of the covered parking spots so this was just one step up. I'm not really going to use it to park in but I'm using it for storage. I figured I'll get some things packed and out in the garage. At least then when it comes time to move, I'll already have a lot of things down at street level. You know how I hate those stairs.
